Mt. Democrat

The first item on Olivia's "to do" list for the summer was to climb her 1st 14'er (mountain over 14,000 feet) with Brian, a daddy daughter only trip. They decided to climb Mt. Democrat near Breckenridge. Here they are at the summit:

Brian said she was a real trooper and did not complain much, although she was highly disappointed when she found out their was not a snack bar that sold fudge on the top, like Pikes Peak! Oh well. She already has her eyes set on a few more for later this summer, maybe Greys and Torres, which can be done together in one day. While they were climbing, Jack and I had a little mommy/son time at the pool and hot tub back in town. I think we might have gotten the better end of that deal. After that, it was off to the Art Festival and Sidewalk Chalk Painting contest in Breckenridge, followed by an awesome pizza at our favorite place in town, Erics:) Good, good trip!!!

Back to Boston

Whew, the race is over and it was a great day!!! I was thrilled to be back in Boston this year, especially after missing the race last year when I was sick. It was extra special this year, getting to run with two friends. It all started when Cindy and I ran here 4 years ago, yet we were unable to run together the last two years. She had a fabulous race yesterday with a new Boston PR. It was our friend Raelene's first Boston, and there is nothing more special than that. Well - I take that back, seeing your friend run her first Boston and also set a new PR, which she did, well that is pretty spectacular. I was thrilled with my race as well, shaving a few minutes off my last two marathons, re-qualifying and feeling strong and confident at the finish. Well done Super Runner Girls - congratulations!!!,
Don't know if I'll be back next year, but I've learned to never say never...
Now off to hobble back home and relax with the kiddo's and Brian, my ultimate fans and support crew:) Thanks guys!!!

Family Visit

We just had an exciting visit from my brother Jim, his wife Amy and my nieces Emily and Erin last week during their spring break. We love showing off beautiful Colorado and all the fun stuff here. We have a list off things we usually do with visitors, but this time we all tried something new - SKYDIVING!!! OK - I must admit it was indoor skydiving, but it was just as exhilarating, without the terror that I imagine goes along with jumping out of a moving plane at altitude. Here we are in action...
Olivia:

Jack:

The entire flight crew (minus Brian the photographer - personally I think he was too chicken to fly, ha ha!). We all agreed it was much harder than we expected and that the outfits were less than flattering.

Then, we were off to Glenwood, to relax in the Hotsprings Pool, one of our favorite things to do, especially in the winter. We missed the great weather by a week, so the slides were not open, but it was still lots of fun. It is the worlds largest naturally fed hot springs pool. The large pool was 93 degrees and the hot pool was a toasty 104. Very nice in the cool spring weather. As Amy said, "Who the heck comes to Colorado in April to go swimming?" Well, I guess now they can say they do!!!

It was great having you - come back soon!

We'll Miss You Gordy!

The family lost a great man last week. My brother's father-in-law, known to us all as "Grandpa Gordy" was killed in a tragic snowmobile accident in Wisconsin. He, and his wife Judy, who died only a few short years ago from cancer, always included us in the family when we went to visit my brother and sister-in-law, Amy, and occasionally came with us on family trips and outings. I'll never forget the camping trip in Mackinaw City, during which Gordy set off his car alarm, not once, but twice before dawn!

These are a few pictures from our trip to the lake in Crivitz, WI last summer. Gordon with Jack on his Pontoon Boat, Grandpa Tony with Gordon in his new convertible and the family at the famous Loopy's biker bar meat raffle (yes they do know how to have fun up north WI) Amy, Jim, Emily, Erin and Zach - we are so sorry for your loss! Gordy, rest in peace and give Judy a big hug for us all!
